“JOEL’S STORY” - Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)
Storytelling for Fundraising and Orientation

The Challenge

CASA of Baltimore is a private, non-profit agency whose mission is to provide a voice for abused and neglected children involved in the juvenile court system. Professionally trained community volunteers who step up and make sure children's voices are heard in the court system.

CASA wanted to recruit new volunteers to serve the nearly 8000 children in need of support in the court system – and strengthen their fundraising tools.

The Approach

Think Again Media interviewed and filmed CASA volunteers to understand what motivates them and why and how they do the work they do.

Created a fictional character named Joel, whose life story was based on the real stories of teens CASA serves.

The Result

CASA has a powerful chest of tools for fundraising, recruitment, and training.

  • A web video of Joel’s story.
  • Testimonial clips from volunteers.
  • An 11-minute signature video of Joel’s story and volunteer commentary for use in fundraising, special events, and orientation for new volunteers.
